Heinrich Hauss joined BFIN in 2011 and became President of the firm in 2016. Mr. Hauss brings more than 20 years of debt and equity experience as a real estate professional and has assisted with more than 30 billion euros of successful transactions across Europe, North America and Australia.
He started his career with Hypo Bank in New York and then progressed to leadership positions with RBS in Munich and London.
Mr. Hauss holds a Masters in Business (Property) from the University of South Australia.
Pierre Bergevin joined BFIN’s Toronto office in 2013 as a Managing Partner, where he is responsible for institutional client coverage, particularly in large cross border transactions. He brings more than 27 years of experience in real estate advisory services to work for his clients.
Prior to joining BFIN, Mr. Bergevin was the Canadian President & CEO of an international real estate advisory firm, a position he held for six years. Prior to that, he held an international leadership role in the same firm, advising large international institutions on their real estate holdings.
Mr. Bergevin has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Western Ontario and earned Honours in Business Administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business. He currently serves as the Vice Chairman of the Board and Chair of the Real Estate Committee for the YMCA of Greater Toronto.
Brydon Cruise is a Senior Partner of BFIN and is responsible for originating real estate mergers and acquisitions, as well as debt and equity capital markets transactions. He joined the firm in 2003 as a Managing Partner and previously served as President of BFIN from 2005 to 2016.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Cruise was a Managing Director at RBC Capital Markets in the commercial mortgage-backed securities business where he also developed a mortgage-trading platform. Mr. Cruise has more than 26 years of real estate experience including working for Fortress Investment Group, Lonestar Opportunity Fund and Citigroup.
He graduated with a BBA from Wilfrid Laurier University in 1988.

Martin Brümmer is a Managing Partner with BFIN, joining the team in 2013. Since joining he has led real estate transactions worth more than 8 billion euros across all asset classes and the entire capital structure. Mr. Brümmer leads the team in London and has more than 17 years of experience in international real estate and capital markets.
Before joining BFIN, he was a Managing Director at FMS-Wertmanagement (Germany’s largest bad bank) where he served as the firm’s Deputy Chief Real Estate Officer and sat on the supervisory board of the firm’s servicing entity. Prior to that Mr. Brümmer worked as a principal for Lehman Brothers and O’Connor Capital Partners, focusing on German and pan-European acquisitions. He started his career at Jones Lang LaSalle Corporate Finance.
Mr. Brümmer holds a BA (Hons) (first class) from the European School of Business, Reutlingen, and is also a certified Kaufmann in der Grundstücks-und Wohnungswirtschaft. He is fluent in German, English and Spanish and lives in London.
Margarida Fraga, MBA

Margarida Fraga joined BFIN in 2011 as a Partner, and is in charge of the Brazilian operations. She is responsible for the origination and execution of real estate transactions, including property brokerage, M&A, debt and equity financing as well as real estate advisory.
Ms. Fraga has worked for Brookfield Group since 1997, and started her career as an investment banker at Banco Brascan (a Brookfield company). Since then, she has been involved in investment banking transactions in Brazil, including M&A, advisory for debt and equity restructuring, local security issuances in the capital markets and client relationships.
She earned a Master of Business Administration from IBMEC-Rio and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from PUC-RJ.

Markus Reule joined BFIN as a London-based Partner in January 2016 to set up the advisory practice for the firm’s financial institution clients. Mr. Reule is responsible for financial institutions M&A, noncore and capital structure advisory as well as debt advisory. In addition to his client facing front office responsibilities, he also serves as COO for BFIN globally.
Prior to joining BFIN, Mr. Reule worked at RBS for more than 16 years, where he served in a number of senior roles including as co-head of the Financial Institutions Solutions business in the EMEA region and as co-head of the Financial Institutions Secured Debt EMEA team. He has also held positions in structured finance, debt capital markets origination and securitization as well as RBS Group Strategy, where he worked on M&A and corporate strategy projects.
Mr. Reule qualified as Bankkaufmann in Germany and studied business administration at the universities of Tübingen and Edinburgh.
Kirk Robinson, CA
Kirk Robinson, a Partner and Head of BFIN’s Australia office, brings more than 17 years of international experience in investment banking, funds management, real estate acquisitions and divestments, M&A transactions, and financing and operating of public and private infrastructure projects.
Prior to BFIN, Mr. Robinson was a Senior Vice President with Macquarie Group’s infrastructure team where he had asset management responsibilities for several toll road investments in Australia and the US. He also served as the chief financial officer of Country Group Securities, a Thai-listed financial services company.
Mr. Robinson earned a Bachelor of Business (with Merit) from the University of Technology, Sydney, and is a chartered accountant in Australia.
Christian Schreiber joined BFIN in 2013 and has more than 20 years of experience in the German real estate market. He is responsible for Germany and the German-speaking region.
Prior to joining BFIN, Mr. Schreiber ran his own brokerage and advisory business, focusing on opportunistic and distressed real estate. Over his career, he has completed more than 1,000 real estate transactions.
Mr. Schreiber holds a degree in business administration from Fachhochschule Gelsenkirchen and is also a certified real estate professional (Kaufmann in der Grundstücks- und Wohnungswirtschaft).

Josephine Shum joined BFIN in 2010, and is responsible for executing equity and debt placements, restructuring, recapitalization, M&A and portfolio advisory mandates. She has more than 15 years of real estate experience in capital markets, asset management, acquisitions and development across all asset classes.
Prior to joining BFIN, Ms. Shum was a manager at AIG Global Real Estate responsible for asset management and acquisitions. Her asset management portfolio included more than $1 billion of operating properties and land assets in the US. While at AIG, Ms. Shum underwrote and closed more than $3 billion of investments in the US, Europe and Asia. Prior to pursuing her MBA, Ms. Shum worked in real estate development.
Ms. Shum earned her Master of Business Administration from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Southern California with a bachelor’s in business administration and a minor in architecture.
John Stinson is a Partner based in Singapore and is responsible for originating and executing real estate advisory and capital markets transactions related to Asia. Mr. Stinson has more than 26 years experience, including 15 years in Asia, leading capital markets transactions across sectors including investment advisory, capital advisory in debt and equity, and asset management.
Prior to joining BFIN, Mr. Stinson led the Asia Pacific Capital Markets Team at Cushman & Wakefield. The team operated across Asia and specialized in investment advisory, asset management and capital advisory in both debt and equity. He also served on the Asia Pacific Board and was a member of the Global Management Committee. Before that, he held a cross-Asia Pacific role heading Capital Markets with DTZ and was a member of their Global Management Committee.
SÃO PAULO, BRAZIL
Caimi Reis joined BFIN in 2018 as a Partner and is in charge of Sao Paulo office. He is responsible for the origination and execution of real estate transactions, including M&A, debt and equity financing, real estate funds structuring, securitization and real estate advisory.
Before joining BFIN, he was a Partner and Head of Real Estate at Brasil Plural Investment Bank, having led several real estate transactions in Brazil amounting to USD 1+ billion across many asset classes. Prior to that, Mr. Reis worked as a VP for Deutsche Bank focusing on real estate in Latin America.
He earned a Master in Financial Engineering from Sao Paulo University (USP) and a bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Military Institute of Engineering (IME).
Stephen Smyth, FCCA
Stephen Smyth is the Chief Financial Officer for BFIN, joining the Toronto team in 2011. Stephen brings with him approximately 20 years of experience in finance and accounting.
Stephen spent the previous 5 years initially with the Financial Services Audit Group at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Toronto and later as Financial Controller at Cormark Securities Inc. Prior to moving to Canada in 2007, Stephen worked in the UK with the Royal Bank of Scotland in various finance roles after qualifying as a Chartered Accountant with a mid-sized firm in the Republic of Ireland.
Stephen holds a Bachelor of Economics and Accounting from The Queen’s University, Belfast and is a Chartered Accountant.

Robert Jarvis is the Global Head of HR for BFIN, joining the team in 2017, he has over 20 years’ experience in HR.
Before joining BFIN, Robert was the Head of HR for the UK for ENGIE Exploration and Production in the Oil and Gas sector. Prior to this Robert was a senior consultant working in numerous sectors, and before that had spells of time in the UK public and retail sectors
Robert is a Masters graduate in Human Resources Management and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).

Wendell is an Executive Director with BFIN. He is currently located in our New York office where he contributes to the origination and execution of business across all service lines and asset types globally. Wendell has been involved in all of the large portfolio assignments completed across the US in recent years.
Wendell joined the Toronto office in 2010. While in Toronto he provided support to the capital markets, M&A and brokerage teams. Notable transactions included the creation of Dundee International REIT through the sale of Lone Star German Portfolio, the acquisition of Blackstone’s Canadian Office Portfolio, and the sale of Realex Properties Corp.
Wendell also spent 3 years in our European offices providing support between the London and Munich teams. While in Europe, notable transactions included the sale of Printemps, a luxury department store business with holdings across France, the sale of Elegant Hotels, a luxury hotel owner in Barbados, as well as a number of large office and retail portfolios located across Germany.
Wendell holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Chemistry, a dual degree of chemical engineering and honours chemistry, from Queen’s University. Wendell is a FINRA Registered Representative with Series 63 and Series 79.

Paul Leong joined BFIN in 2018 and is an Executive Director specializing in M&A, strategic advisory and capital raising for real estate clients.
Mr. Leong has been involved in various transactions for clients including AIG Global Real Estate, Cipriani, Hilton, Blackstone Real Estate Partners, Guardian Realty Investors, La Quinta, MACK Real Estate Group, JCPenney, Dodgers, LAZ Parking, Citi Property Investors, and Pershing Square.
Prior to joining BFIN, Mr. Leong was in the investment banking real estate groups at Macquarie and Blackstone.
Mr. Leong received an MBA from Columbia Business School where he graduated with honors and was elected to Beta Gamma Sigma. He also graduated with honors from Columbia University with a BS in Engineering Management Systems and a BA in Economics.
Angelo Lamanna is an Executive Director at BFIN. Angelo started his career in computer engineering and worked as a systems analyst before moving into business development roles spending over 25 year expanding his knowledge and experience in Technology, Sales and Operations. This experience has allowed Angelo to apply his strong operations background to the companies he represents. In addition, Angelo has extensive expertise in both private and public sectors, managing high value asset transactions. His focus is on creating value for his clients’ portfolios by aligning their corporate real estate and technology requirements with their company goals.

Leadership positions include COO/CCO and Vice President roles for Operations and National Sales of large and medium companies in Agriculture and Renewable Energy. Senior Sales positions in large and small telecommunications and high-tech companies with significant experience in data center and telecom leasing, land sales and development, sale/leasebacks and dispositions of excess assets. A highly successful track record of delivering financial results, attracting and retaining the best talent and building effective, high-performance teams and cultures.
Samir Chande joined BFIN in 2010. Samir brings more than 12 years of experience in investment, operations, acquisition and financing of public and private infrastructure in both Canada and the US. Since joining, he has been involved in raising committed financing for over 30 PPP projects and has successfully achieved financial close on 12 transactions.
Samir has a Bachelor of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo and is a CFA® charterholder.

Haig Bezian joined BFIN in September 2017 to run the advisory practice for the French market. Mr. Bezian is responsible for real estate investment banking services across M&A, capital structure advisory as well as debt advisory.
Prior to joining BFIN, Mr. Bezian worked within the Investment Bank at Barclays for 9 years and has over 16 years’ experience in the credit markets, with particular knowledge of distressed and legacy CRE secured financings across Europe. During this time, he has managed a series of legacy position for Barclays, focusing on the more complex real estate transactions across a wide range of asset classes and jurisdictions. He has also held positions in structured finance at LNR Partners where he was investing in sub investment grade CMBS, B-notes, mezzanine debt, non-performing loans and real estate equity as a principal for LNR’s opportunity funds.
Mr. Bezian graduated from KEDGE Business School with an MSc in management science and finance, in 2003.
Julius Wolf joined BFIN’s Australian team as a Vice President in October 2016 and has since advised on over AUD 400m in real estate transactions spanning the retail, hotel, student accommodation and office sectors. Julius has over 12 years of experience in real estate finance, acquisitions and investment management across Asia-Pacific, North American and European markets.
Based in Sydney, Julius heads BFIN’s Australian real estate operations and is responsible for structuring and underwriting corporate and direct real estate transactions across the capital spectrum. Prior to joining BFIN, Julius worked as a capital transactions manager at DEXUS Property Group, Australia’s largest office REIT. He also worked at Singapore-based hotel investor M&L Hospitality and held various roles for German real estate lender Aareal Bank in both New York and Germany. While at Aareal Bank, Julius closed approximately USD 3bn of debt transactions with a focus on hotel and retail assets. Julius has in-depth hotel operating experience and an expansive network to global hotel investors, lenders, operators and brands.
Julius completed his undergraduate degree in Economics and Management at the University of Bolzano in Italy and graduated with a Master of International Studies (Hons.) from the University of Sydney. He is fluent in English, German and Italian.
Scott Ellis joined BFIN’s Australian team in 2014 with a focus on social infrastructure, renewable energy and structured finance. Scott has 15 years of experience in investment banking, lending and capital markets, having previously worked at Investec Bank and HBOS/Lloyds Bank.
Based in Sydney, Scott covers the Australian and New Zealand markets and is responsible for originating, structuring and advising on the sustainable placement of capital into social infrastructure transactions. Scott advises a variety of clients, from pension investment funds to not-for-profit organisations, across specialist asset classes including, Social & Affordable Housing, Specialist Disability Accommodation, Healthcare, Student Accommodation and PPP projects.
Scott has undergraduate degrees in Applied Finance and Actuarial Studies (Macquarie University, Sydney), a Master of Business Administration (MGSM, Sydney) and is a qualified Associate Actuary.
