Leonard M. Abramsky
Leonard M. Abramsky is a Managing Partner responsible for helping the firm’s clients through property brokerage, M&A advisory, and debt and equity financings on a global level. He joined the firm in 2005 from TD Securities where he was a Managing Director.
With more than 33 years of experience on the investment banking and brokerage sides of all forms of commercial real estate, Mr. Abramsky has been involved in notable recent sales such as Royal Centre, Vancouver; 250 University Ave, 150 Bloor Street West and One Bloor Street East, Toronto; and L’Avenue in Montreal.
In 1995, Mr. Abramsky founded Cornerstone Commercial Realty, a boutique property advisory firm, which was acquired by TD Securities in 1998. Before that he spent 12 years as a leading investment sales professional at CBRE.
Mr. Abramsky is a graduate of Boston University School of Management and holds a BSc degree in Business Administration Real Estate Finance. He is currently serving on the Board of Canadian Friends of Tel Aviv University and the Investment Committee and Board of the Jewish Foundation of Toronto. Mr. Abramsky is a past President and former Board Member of the Robbins Hebrew Academy, Toronto.
Pierre Bergevin joined BFIN’s Toronto office in 2013 as a Managing Partner, where he is responsible for institutional client coverage, particularly in large cross border transactions. He brings more than 27 years of experience in real estate advisory services to work for his clients.
Prior to joining BFIN, Mr. Bergevin was the Canadian President & CEO of an international real estate advisory firm, a position he held for six years. Prior to that, he held an international leadership role in the same firm, advising large international institutions on their real estate holdings.
Mr. Bergevin has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Western Ontario and earned Honours in Business Administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business. He currently serves as the Vice Chairman of the Board and Chair of the Real Estate Committee for the YMCA of Greater Toronto.
Richard Brown, MBA

Richard Brown joined BFIN in 2011 as a Managing Partner based in Hong Kong and has more than 25 years of banking experience. He is responsible for all of BFIN’s activities in Asia.
Following four years with consulting firm McKinsey & Company, he spent 18 years with Citibank, where he was involved in M&A, created and managed real estate funds, closed property transactions and co-founded the bank’s real estate capital markets practice. He was also Chairman of Citibank Canada Securities, before assuming the role of financial institutions head for Citibank in Asia Pacific. Just prior to BFIN, Mr. Brown ran transaction banking in Asia for the Bank of New York Mellon, having also been with Bank of America in a similar capacity.
Mr. Brown earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Western Ontario and holds an engineering degree from Imperial College, London. He serves as a Governor and Director of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong.

Martin Brümmer is a Managing Partner with BFIN, joining the team in 2013. Since joining he has led real estate transactions worth more than 8 billion euros across all asset classes and the entire capital structure. Mr. Brümmer leads the team in London and has more than 17 years of experience in international real estate and capital markets.
Before joining BFIN, he was a Managing Director at FMS-Wertmanagement (Germany’s largest bad bank) where he served as the firm’s Deputy Chief Real Estate Officer and sat on the supervisory board of the firm’s servicing entity. Prior to that Mr. Brümmer worked as a principal for Lehman Brothers and O’Connor Capital Partners, focusing on German and pan-European acquisitions. He started his career at Jones Lang LaSalle Corporate Finance.
Mr. Brümmer holds a BA (Hons) (first class) from the European School of Business, Reutlingen, and is also a certified Kaufmann in der Grundstücks-und Wohnungswirtschaft. He is fluent in German, English and Spanish and lives in London.
As a Managing Partner at BFIN, John Cardiff oversees the company’s property advisory business for Calgary and the western region of North America where he focuses on sales, financing and structured transactions. Mr. Cardiff has more than 30 years of experience in commercial real estate, including property brokerage, investment banking, development, construction, leasing and financing.
He has been involved in transactions in nearly every province and state on behalf of clients. Transactions have included major shopping centres, office, industrial and land sales in western Canada as well as more than 100 office properties in the US.
Prior to joining BFIN, Mr. Cardiff worked for Brookfield Properties and its affiliates in property development, leasing and construction, and for an international brokerage firm in property investment sales.
Mr. Cardiff earned a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from the University of Toronto, and is a licensed broker and FINRA representative.
Edward Cheung is a Managing Partner at BFIN with a focus on structured finance and M&A advisory. Mr. Cheung has led various capital market initiatives including the privatization of public and private real asset and resources companies, the formation of a global real estate platform that is listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange, the strategic recapitalization on several billion-dollar portfolios of real estate properties to long-term strategic capital partners.
Mr. Cheung has responsibilities in the United States and Canada and has particularly been active in the past 24 months sourcing strategic LP capital from foreign investors into North American domicile real estate opportunities.
Prior to joining BFIN, Mr. Cheung was at GE Real Estate where he underwrote more than $1 billion in real estate transactions. He also spent five years as a management consultant at Deloitte focused on telecommunications, energy and financial services.
Mr. Cheung earned his Master of Business Administration from INSEAD and graduated from the University of Waterloo with a systems design engineering degree.
Brydon Cruise is a Senior Partner of BFIN and is responsible for originating real estate mergers and acquisitions, as well as debt and equity capital markets transactions. He joined the firm in 2003 as a Managing Partner and previously served as President of BFIN from 2005 to 2016.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Cruise was a Managing Director at RBC Capital Markets in the commercial mortgage-backed securities business where he also developed a mortgage-trading platform. Mr. Cruise has more than 26 years of real estate experience including working for Fortress Investment Group, Lonestar Opportunity Fund and Citigroup.
He graduated with a BBA from Wilfrid Laurier University in 1988.
Adil A. Engineer
Adil Engineer is a Partner in the Mumbai office of BFIN and has more than 28 years of experience in the construction and real estate industry. He was instrumental in the setting up of the BFIN office in India in 2011, and is responsible for originating and executing debt, capital market and investment brokerage transactions in India.
Before joining BFIN, Mr. Engineer worked as a Director of Projects with the Indian arm of F&C REIT Asset Management, UK, on the buy side where he was responsible for making recommendations for land acquisitions. He also made recommendations for project-participation based on identification of suitable buildable land parcels, project conception, preparation of viability models and project budgets. Other responsibilities included monitoring and managing projects under execution, especially with regard to cash flows and budgets. Prior to that, Mr. Engineer was a partner in a medium-sized construction firm.
Mr. Engineer earned a civil engineering degree from Mumbai University and a post-graduate diploma in construction management from NICMAR. He is a past President and serves on the Board of the Malabar Hill Club Ltd., a premier South Mumbai sports and recreation club serving more than 5,000 members.
Margarida Fraga, MBA

Margarida Fraga joined BFIN in 2011 as a Partner, and is in charge of the Brazilian operations. She is responsible for the origination and execution of real estate transactions, including property brokerage, M&A, debt and equity financing as well as real estate advisory.
Ms. Fraga has worked for Brookfield Group since 1997, and started her career as an investment banker at Banco Brascan (a Brookfield company). Since then, she has been involved in investment banking transactions in Brazil, including M&A, advisory for debt and equity restructuring, local security issuances in the capital markets and client relationships.
She earned a Master of Business Administration from IBMEC-Rio and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from PUC-RJ.
Heinrich Hauss joined BFIN in 2011 and became President of the firm in 2016. Mr. Hauss brings more than 20 years of debt and equity experience as a real estate professional and has assisted with more than 30 billion euros of successful transactions across Europe, North America and Australia.
He started his career with Hypo Bank in New York and then progressed to leadership positions with RBS in Munich and London.
Mr. Hauss holds a Masters in Business (Property) from the University of South Australia.
Michal Kuzmicki joined the Montreal office in 2008 as a Managing Partner and has served as Vice Chairman since July 2016. Mr. Kuzmicki is responsible for originating and executing property brokerage and financing transactions, primarily in the Québec market.
Before joining BFIN, Mr. Kuzmicki was a Managing Director with CIBC World Markets and Senior Vice President, Investments with Colliers International. He has more than 30 years of experience in real estate finance, dispositions and acquisitions focused on corporate and institutional clients.
Mr. Kuzmicki has participated in transactions involving many of Montréal’s landmark investment properties, including Maison Radio-Canada, Maison Manuvie (900 de Maisonneuve West), Norgate and Renaissance multi-residential portfolio (1528 units), Montréal Eaton Centre, Place Bonaventure, Dominion Square, Ogilvy, Champlain Mall and SITQ’s Laval (8) office and Québec (13) retail portfolios, amongst others.
Mr. Kuzmicki serves on the Board of Directors of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) and as Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the McCord Museum in Montréal. He is a past Director of the Urban Development Institute (Montréal).
Mr. Kuzmicki earned a Master of Business Administration from McGill University and a Bachelor of Arts from Loyola College. He also holds the FICB, CRE and ICD.D designations.

Dan McNulty joined BFIN in 2014 as a Managing Partner in the New York office and is responsible for sourcing and executing the firm’s advisory, structured finance and brokerage assignments across all property types and markets throughout North America.
Before joining BFIN, Mr. McNulty was President of Rockwood Real Estate Advisers and Co-Head of Business Development for Auction.com, where his clients included REITs, pension plan sponsors, global investment banks and sovereign wealth funds. Mr. McNulty began his career at Accenture and then moved on to become a Senior Executive at Prudential Real Estate Investors.
He earned a degree in engineering and finance from Michigan State University.

Jonathan Milich is a Partner at BFIN, joining the team in 2013. He is responsible for the underwriting and execution of real estate brokerage transactions in the United Kingdom. Mr. Milich has more than 13 years of experience working in the West End and national investment markets, with direct sales experience in a variety of sectors including offices, industrial, hotels and residential assets.
Prior to joining BFIN, Mr. Milich worked at DTZ, where he provided advice to funds, financial institutions, property companies and private investors on the sale, purchase and funding of UK commercial real estate.
He studied at West Herts College where he received a diploma in Business Studies.
Daniel Reidy joined BFIN in September 2011 as an infrastructure development and investment professional. He has more than 17 years experience in the bidding, procurement, management and commercial aspects of a wide range of infrastructure projects, with a particular focus on PPP development and project finance.
Mr. Reidy has played an active role in the Canadian Infrastructure market during the last 13 years and has been active in development and project finance advisory, equity investment and commercial due diligence on infrastructure transactions in both Canada and the US. Prior to joining BFIN, he was a Director, Social Infrastructure at Bilfinger Berger Project Investments.
He has been responsible for such notable transaction as The Etobicoke General Hospital Phase 1 Patient Tower Project, Lions Gate Secondary Wastewater Treatment Plant Project, and the Saint John Safe Clean Drinking Water Project.
Mr. Reidy obtained his Bachelor of Science, with Honours, in Quantity Surveying from the University of Northumbria, England.

Markus Reule joined BFIN as a London-based Partner in January 2016 to set up the advisory practice for the firm’s financial institution clients. Mr. Reule is responsible for financial institutions M&A, noncore and capital structure advisory as well as debt advisory. In addition to his client facing front office responsibilities, he also serves as COO for BFIN globally.
Prior to joining BFIN, Mr. Reule worked at RBS for more than 16 years, where he served in a number of senior roles including as co-head of the Financial Institutions Solutions business in the EMEA region and as co-head of the Financial Institutions Secured Debt EMEA team. He has also held positions in structured finance, debt capital markets origination and securitization as well as RBS Group Strategy, where he worked on M&A and corporate strategy projects.
Mr. Reule qualified as Bankkaufmann in Germany and studied business administration at the universities of Tübingen and Edinburgh.
Kirk Robinson, CA
Kirk Robinson, a Partner and Head of BFIN’s Australia office, brings more than 17 years of international experience in investment banking, funds management, real estate acquisitions and divestments, M&A transactions, and financing and operating of public and private infrastructure projects.
Prior to BFIN, Mr. Robinson was a Senior Vice President with Macquarie Group’s infrastructure team where he had asset management responsibilities for several toll road investments in Australia and the US. He also served as the chief financial officer of Country Group Securities, a Thai-listed financial services company.
Mr. Robinson earned a Bachelor of Business (with Merit) from the University of Technology, Sydney, and is a chartered accountant in Australia.
Christian Schreiber joined BFIN in 2013 and has more than 20 years of experience in the German real estate market. He is responsible for Germany and the German-speaking region.
Prior to joining BFIN, Mr. Schreiber ran his own brokerage and advisory business, focusing on opportunistic and distressed real estate. Over his career, he has completed more than 1,000 real estate transactions.
Mr. Schreiber holds a degree in business administration from Fachhochschule Gelsenkirchen and is also a certified real estate professional (Kaufmann in der Grundstücks- und Wohnungswirtschaft).

Josephine Shum joined BFIN in 2010, and is responsible for executing equity and debt placements, restructuring, recapitalization, M&A and portfolio advisory mandates. She has more than 15 years of real estate experience in capital markets, asset management, acquisitions and development across all asset classes.
Prior to joining BFIN, Ms. Shum was a manager at AIG Global Real Estate responsible for asset management and acquisitions. Her asset management portfolio included more than $1 billion of operating properties and land assets in the US. While at AIG, Ms. Shum underwrote and closed more than $3 billion of investments in the US, Europe and Asia. Prior to pursuing her MBA, Ms. Shum worked in real estate development.
Ms. Shum earned her Master of Business Administration from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Southern California with a bachelor’s in business administration and a minor in architecture.
John Stinson is a Partner based in Singapore and is responsible for originating and executing real estate advisory and capital markets transactions related to Asia. Mr. Stinson has more than 26 years experience, including 15 years in Asia, leading capital markets transactions across sectors including investment advisory, capital advisory in debt and equity, and asset management.
Prior to joining BFIN, Mr. Stinson led the Asia Pacific Capital Markets Team at Cushman & Wakefield. The team operated across Asia and specialized in investment advisory, asset management and capital advisory in both debt and equity. He also served on the Asia Pacific Board and was a member of the Global Management Committee. Before that, he held a cross-Asia Pacific role heading Capital Markets with DTZ and was a member of their Global Management Committee.
Pawan Swamy, MBA
Pawan Swamy is a Managing Partner with BFIN, joining the group in 2011. Mr. Swamy has more than 16 years of experience in Indian real estate on the investment banking and brokerage sides of the industry. He has led more than $5 billion in transactions across all asset classes and the entire capital structure.
Prior to joining BFIN, Mr. Swamy was a Managing Director at Jones Lang Lasalle where he set up one of the largest real estate capital markets and investment brokerage platforms in the country. His experience also includes working on the real estate mortgage lending side as a senior executive with Standard Chartered Bank. Prior to that, he worked in the real estate transactions group at Colliers International.
Mr. Swamy earned a Master of Business Administration in finance from Mumbai University and earned an undergraduate degree from the Indian Institute of Management and Commerce (IIMC). He is a member of RICS and serves as a board member of the Real Estate & Housing Working Committee of RICS.
Frederick Wong, CFA, CPA, MBA

Frederick Wong is a partner with Brookfield Financial and has joined the company in 2015. He is responsible for covering investors and companies in the Greater China region and is also responsible for the execution of M&A, advisory and capital market transactions.
Prior to joining BFIN, Mr. Wong worked for UBS and Macquarie in their real estate investment banking teams focusing on Greater China real estate. Before joining UBS, Mr. Wong worked in the investment banking team of Credit Suisse.
He has participated in multiple cross-border transactions including the acquisition of a US healthcare asset portfolio from Welltower Inc. (NYSE:HCN); a Canadian Healthcare asset platform; and a Toronto Grade-A Office by various leading Chinese insurance companies for a combined value of more than $2 billion. He also participated in various capital market transactions including multiple senior unsecured note offerings for Shui On Land, China Overseas Land & Investment, CITIC Pacific and Greentown China; a private placement by Warburg Pincus into Mingfa Group; syndicated loan facilities for Wynn Macau, MGM China and Galaxy Entertainment; and initial public offerings for Logan Property and Global Logistics Properties with a combined value of more than $15 billion.
Mr. Wong earned his Master of Business Administration from the University of Oxford. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and Certified Public Accountant.
